My Work

Diagnosed with Type One Diabetes at age seven, I was always drawn to stories that featured people like me. I started writing my debut novel, Love & BS, in 2020, when I found myself inspired to write down some of my own experiences with chronic illness. My own love for fiction that contains a little humour, and some sweet romance, seemed like the perfect medium to spread awareness about Diabetes, while telling a tale with a happy ending. As a self-proclaimed book worm, I love when authors write characters that I can see myself in and  I hoped that writing about Type One might allow other Diabetics, and the people who love them, to see themselves represented in the pages of my work.

Love & BS is about two long-time friends, Andy and Jonah. Told from the perspective of both characters, over the course of one week, they both realize neither of them are interested in just being friends anymore. Andy's highs and lows in the story, are all based on my own real-life experiences living with Type One Diabetes for the last 35 years.

My next novel is still a work in progress, but will touch on some of the mental health challenges that come with chronic illness. I hope readers also enjoy the sweet love story between Elli & Ben, who find each other again, after years apart. Stay tuned for more!
